Who we are

This website is operated by Ignis Overseas Ltd, which trades as Atkinson Oil Co. ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 13434452, with our registered office at 480 London Road, Office 28, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 4RL.

The information we collect

We only collect personal data that you choose to give us, or that is generated automatically when you browse the site.

When you use the contact form. We collect your name, your email address and the content of your message, so that we can read your enquiry and reply.

When you use the product advisor chatbot. We process the messages you type into it in order to generate a response. Please do not enter sensitive personal information into the chatbot, as you do not need to identify yourself to use it.

When you browse the site. With your consent, we use analytics cookies that collect standard information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived at the site, your approximate location and your device and browser type. This is described in our Cookie Policy.

How we use your information, and our legal basis

Under UK data protection law we must have a legal basis for using your personal data. Ours are as follows.

To answer your enquiries sent through the contact form or by email. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch, and taking steps to deal with your request.
To run the product advisor chatbot and answer your questions about lubrication. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in helping visitors find the right product.
To measure and improve the site using analytics. Legal basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner.

We do not currently send marketing emails or run a mailing list. If we introduce this in future, we will update this policy first, and we will only email you if you have asked us to.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We use a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf:

Google (Google Workspace) hosts the email inbox that receives contact-form enquiries and messages sent to info@atkinsonoil.co.uk.
Google (Google Analytics) provides the website analytics described in our Cookie Policy.
Anthropic provides the AI service that powers the product advisor chatbot. Messages you type are sent to Anthropic to generate a reply.
Our website host stores and serves the site.

We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law.

Where you click through to buy a product, you leave this site and are taken to Lubricants Hub, which is operated separately and has its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for how other websites handle your data.

Sending data outside the UK

Some of our providers, including Google and Anthropic, may process data on servers outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place for international transfers, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent approved terms.

How long we keep it

We keep contact-form enquiries and related correspondence for as long as we need to deal with your query and for a reasonable period afterwards, normally up to 24 months, unless we need to keep them longer for a legal reason. Analytics data is retained for the period set in our analytics account.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask us to give you a copy of your personal data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email info@atkinsonoil.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
